HANDS ON FALL PROTECTION COMPETENT PERSON & INSPECTION
*Students will perform inspection & maybe suspended in harness & perform rescue
- Overview of Fall Prevention and Protection An OSHA "competent person" is defined as "one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them". [29 CFR 1926.32(f)].

- Symptoms of suspension trauma – practices to avoid and actions to take in case if presents itself
- Fall protection rescue procedures (Who do you call, how to handle situation according to company policy)
- Fall Hazard Task Evaluation (Exercise requiring hazard analysis)
- Self-Inspection (Hands-on Practicum) – Cleaning procedures Rescue – Per Employee Handbook, self-rescue demo in classroom
- Hands on Demo – Simulate all steps of fall protection 1. Identify fall risk 2. Inspect fall equipment 3. Donn fall equipment 4. Fall rescue procedures
- Classroom review with take home hand book & written test
- Certification Cards – provided to employee & copy of cards to employer at the end of successful class completion
